The Farthest Star blog is the blog of the author of Swiftfire and Star Trek: The Farthest Star, JayLR. It is hosted on Wordpress.com.
History and usage[]
It was started in November 2013 to follow JayLR's attempt at NaNoWriMo 2013. Following that it was used to post responses to blog prompts from Ad Astra and the WriYe forums. These tend to be general writing questions.
Progress posts are also posted on the blog that are meant to track the progress of both that year's WriYe and progress on works-in-progress.
The blog was also hosted some Swiftfire fan fiction. Eight short stories from the now defunct "Tales From the Farthest Star" anthology were posted on the blog before then later being added to the main series website. "No Refunds" was the final story to receive that treatment before this type of release was stopped.
In-universe information is also posted in some blogs that has not appeared in any fiction. In posts from 2021 onwards this information is considered to be "canon", but at a lower level than what appears in completed stories. This means if there is a conflict between information from blog posts and what's presented in a story then the latter would be considered the accepted version.[1]
