The Occupation of Bajor was a period from around 2319 to 2369 during which the Cardassian Union occupied Bajor. It was a brutal period of history for the Bajoran people that saw over ten million people killed and their world ravaged. It came to an end in 2369 due to pressure by the United Federation of Planets and constant attacks by the Bajoran Resistance.
The Cardassian Union and the Bajorans had a peaceful relationship for several years prior to the occupation. The Cardassians did not annex the planet until 2328, a decade after they first came to have a military presence on Bajor, and installed a puppet government.[1][2][3]
The Cardassian's brutal rule over the Bajorans saw a resistance movement created that fought to regain Bajor's independence.[4]
In 2369, the Cardassian finally abandoned Bajor. In the process they sabotaged the planet's infrastructure and industry, which resulted in great hardship for the Bajoran people after they left and saw them turn to the United Federation of Planets for assistance.[2]
