The bridge is the area on a starship that is the equivalent of an operations centre or command centre. From this location the commanding officer controlled and supervised the operation of the vessel.
Starfleet bridges[]
On most Starfleet vessels the bridge is located on Deck 1 on the top of the primary hull. Most designs have the command chair, where the CO sits, located in the centre facing towards a large viewscreen at the front of the bridge. In front of the command chair, depending on the size of the bridge and ship, is the flight control station and also sometimes the Operations station. Other important stations such as the tactical station, science and communications are arrayed to the sides or behind the command chair. Next to the command chair can be chairs for the first and second officers.
